Importance of teaching physics

Critical thinking based on science, as well as the training of skills to collect evidence and process information that allows the construction of generalizations. The development of attitudes oriented towards grounded skepticism, as well as the search for rational explanations to world problems, are aims that the teaching of a level h2 physics tuition in secondary school pursues.

Physics seeks to train citizens with the scientific skills that allow them to live fully and free of body and spirit. Within the field of natural sciences, physics is distinguished by being the most evolved, the one that has undergone the most transformations and revolutions.

The great technological advances of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries such as electrical machines, telecommunications and means of transport that changed the world, arise due to the progress of physics represented by the laws of mechanics, thermodynamics and electromagnetism.

The physics of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries provide us with the theoretical-conceptual bases to understand a changing reality. Faced with a world in constant evolution and in which knowledge is produced on a daily basis, the school should not teach only theoretical and fixed content. Its purpose should be focused on the formation of scientific competencies. In this sense, rather than focusing on the teaching of theoretical content, it should be oriented towards the formation of critical thinking.

When teaching physics underpins strategies are varied as  graphical data analysis , data collection and information processing , generation of mathematical models , presentation of hypotheses, approach proposed solutions to problems of the world and life from the perspective scientific , will be contributing to the formation of competences that the citizen of the 21st century needs to be a winner.
